It has been an interesting week and I am very exicted to share with you the highlights – from Mother’s Day to a clay exhibition.
Lasagne is one of my favourite foods and it brings back so many childhood memories. I highly recommend Aran Goyoaga’s gluten-free pasta recipe from her book Cannelle et Vanille. When making the béchamel sauce, any gluten-free flour blend should work in the roux (I use White Wings).
For Mother’s Day on Sunday, I made crepes for breakfast (recipe here and gluten-free recipe here). I usually have my crepes with butter and sugar, and sometimes nutella. This is also quite nostalgic for me as my mum used to make crepes for us on the weekend.
This chocolate and vanilla marble cake was delicious. I used my favourite vanilla cake recipe but halved it to make a 2-layer cake. To half the batter, add 10g of cocoa powder. Dollop the vanilla and chocolate batter into the cake tin and swirl them together to create the marble effect.
We went to this beautiful exihibit at the Museum of Brisbane called Clay: Collected Ceramics. I highly recommend visiting; it is open till October 22nd. There were so many stunning pieces, including ceramics from Gywn Hanssen Pigott and colourful vases by Steph Woods.
These were some other cool finds from the week:
- I love these handmade bowls from Sono Studio.
- It is hard to find good-quality metal tongs, but I highly recommend these ones from Kitchen Warehouse.
- I recently discovered this beautiful song called All That You Are by Bear’s Den.
- The Instagram account, Seconds Apart, spreads positivity by posting quotes about life across London and Munich. I love the short quote in their bio, “at heart, we are seconds apart”.
I am still trying to figure out how to best structure these posts, and need to focus on taking pictures of things other than food. Thank you for reading, and I really hope this has inspired you in some way.
