I thought I would share something a little different and introduce a new (irregular) series that is a blend of food and lifestyle.
The idea of this series is to share my favourite moments from the week. It could be links to some delicious recipes, cool finds (especially ceramics!), restaurants, quotes, art and anything that inspires me. I wish I could post weekly, but inbetween work, uni and placement, it is difficult to find the time.
Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Baguettes
This gluten-free baugette recipe by Georgia from George Eats is absolutely amazing. I also recommend making this Pan de Cristal recipe by Martin Phillip. It is not gluten-free, but is a Spanish bread that has a beautiful open crumb.
One of my favourite sandwich combinations is inspired by bagel toppings – cream cheese, dill, cucumber, smoked salmon, red onion and capers. These sandwiches would be perfect for a Mother’s Day picnic!
Pumpkin Risotto
As part of my meal prep for this week, I made this pumpkin risotto by Nagi from Recipe Tin Eats. I topped it with some roasted tomatoes and it heated up really well.
Matcha Ice Cream
This ice cream was creamy with a subtle green tea flavour. I used this recipe by David Leobovitz via Cooks without Borders. I recommend adding some vanilla bean paste to the milk and straining the custard if there are any lumps of matcha powder.
I did this painting of Lake Tekapo inspired by trip to New Zealand. It did not turn out quite how I imagined, but I thought I would post it anyway.
I don’t listen to music that often, but I love this new song by Tom Rosenthal called “This little Life”.
One of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane is Happy Boy. They do delicious Chinese food with so many gluten-free options. We ordered the roast duck, salt and pepper tofu, and fish in sichuan chilli broth.
I adore these ceramics by Anna Beam. I’m always on the lookout for beautiful handmade mugs.
I will try get more photos of things other than food next time. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the first post of this series.
